GA-EP45-UD3P OC Help

Thread Starter
Hi, I'm new and don't know much about OC'ing.

Here's my info:

EP45-UD3P

CPUZ Link

Patriot Viper 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)

Can someone help me with the BIOS settings? My computer has been acting up and I'm hoping a few changes in the BIOS will make a difference. Thanks.
I have attached the UD3P bios template. If you could fill that out and copy and paste it here that would help us out considerably. Also, if you could fill out the system info under user cp that would give us a better idea of what were working with.

What kind of problems are you having? Any recent hardware changes?

So seeing that adjust fsb for for your ram. From seeing that below you could 400x9 change vcore to 1.30-1.40 change ram to run 1:1. And work vcore down until your stable with lowest vcore.

After testing and starting over and testing and starting over, I've gotten a stable overclock at 3.3Ghz on my E6600 using the Gigabyte EP45-UD3P board. I used the F8 bios for this overclock as well as 2x2GB G.Skill 1066 DDR2 RAM.

My settings are:
CPU
Multiplier - 9
FSB - 367
PCIE - 100

Memory
Extreme Performance - Standard
XMP - Disabled
Latch - 333
Multiplier - 2.40
(~881Mhz)
manual memory timings

15

VCore - 1.4v
CPU Term - 1.3v
CPU PLL - 1.5v
CPU Ref - .938v (67% of VCore)

MCH Core - 1.3v
MCH Ref - .908 or something (closest one to 67% of MCH Core)
MCH/DRAM Reference - 1.05v

Memory Voltage
2.1v
1.05v
1.05v
1.05v

Advanced Bios Features
Memory Protect - Dis
C1E - Dis
EIST - Dis

My 3.3Ghz overclock was found stabe running Prime95 for 8 hours. Distance to TJMax didn't go under 30 Celsius.

If I bump the FSB to 378 (3.4ghz) the computer will boot up but immediately errors in Prime95.

No hardware changes, just started doing more cpu/gpu intensive work. My PC takes about 90s to start and about 3m total to be usable. I'm running a lot of server apps: teamviewer, dropbox, synergy, plex, apache, jetty (turned this off recently), rails at times, gmote, and maybe another.

My main issues are slow boot times, games are starting to load slower, freezing, and explorer is acting up. I did modify my start menu so I may have broken something but that doesn't explain the slow down issues.

For example, I opened a 1080p video and it hung there for 60s+. When it finally did lot, parts of the app loaded slowly like a web page.

Start fresh is and fresh drivers. That could solve all issues. I don't see why it would slow down except that's a normal thing with windows of you don't defrag and registry clean. What's video card?

I system restored to another date, before the problems got real bad. Runs a bit better but I'll do a fresh install soon. Not a good time right now.

I've got a NVidia 200 Series with the most recent drivers.

I defrag every Wednesday @2am but I do not clean my registry, ever. Any tips on which program to use?

If you have a ton of programs that start when you start Windows, the bootup time will be longer. Look in the msconfig startup tab and see what you can disable.

Also that motherboard is fantastic for overclocking your CPU. You should be able to get it to 3.6Ghz with proper cooling and a bit of skill.

Try to set the CPU host frequency to 333. You have to enable manual control first.

I managed my start apps and services yesterday and it didn't really help. Though the startup improved, other issues still persisted.

I've followed some of the advice and I get restarts. Is it a bad idea to keep the faulty BIOS settings and use the computer normally if it's having startup issues?
