HDD install and OS transfer

I just received my new Samsung hdd today and am not quite sure how to transfer the operating system to it from the old hdd. is there a post in here that explains how or can somebody give me a little advice please. thanx so much.

I found Clonezilla last night, not too familiar with it yet, but it seems like the best free cloning software. You'll have to download the iso from here and burn it to a disk. If you're in Windows 7 you should be able to just double click it and it will ask you waht you want to burn it to.

Cloning is making an exact copy of everything on your old drive, and moving it to the new drive.

If you don't want to do that than you'll need your Windows disk so you can do a clean install of Windows on the new drive.

Yes, but you can take the old one out when you're done if you wish to.

You can easily use your revovery disks, just pop them in and follow the instructions. Just keep in mind this will give you a clean install of Windows, so none of your documents, music, etc. will be there. It will be like you just got your computer from the factory again, albeit with a larger hard drive installed.
