How does the Phenom II x2 555 stand? - Page 2

Getting the 555 is about 20 dollars cheaper than the cheapest X4, but I plan on doing mostly gaming and also plan on upgrading in the future (I'm getting an AM3+ board ), so I don't think that the four physical cores is necessary, are they?

It depends on the game. Some games like 4 cores over 2.

If you have the 20 dollars, don't bother with the x2. If it can't unlock 4 cores, you will get subpar performance in new games. Avoid the Athlon II's as well.

If you wanna chance it...it's almost guaranteed that the 555 unlocks atleast 1 good core....according to the number i have it's like a 85% chance...so if u are saving for a bulldozer upgrade like me....it's not all that bad at gaming either....with a high OC it runs well.
