Does flow direction matter? waterblock flow direction?

My question is, generally speaking, can water flow either direction through the waterblocks? Or are some waterblocks specifically designed for 1 waterport being input, and one waterport being output.

I would think it wouldn't matter, but maybe someone knows better than me.
In case my explanation of my question doesnt make sense, here is an example:

I put my cpu waterblock on. It has the 2 holes to put barbs on. Can I just use either hole I want for the water to go IN to it, and either hole for the water to LEAVE it? Thank you guys

Most Cpu blocks have one port for in and one for out. The idea is use the port that is located in the center of the block as the in and the one furthest from the center as the out.

The idea is cooler water is coming in hitting directly on the center of the block that is taking the most heat from the chip.

No, most water blocks and radiators are direction specific, there is an inlet and outlet port. If you connect it backwards your temps will suffer (the design is meant to minimize turbulence and maximize heat transfer when the water flows the correct way).

The block just have fins in them, so water flow in any direction inside the block should not matter. Water direction of the loop, however, would affect cooling. Like if the cpu is before the gpu, the gpu will get the "warmer" water from the cpu. I don't think that's too much of a problem. try different directions and see if it cools better.

edit: if they say IN and OUT, follow the directions. I also agree with above that if the port is in the middle of the block, use that one for IN.

CPU waterblocks have an inlet and outlet. The inlet is where the water goes in a hits the fins that transfer the heat.

LIke others have said, most cpu blocks are directional, most other parts are not. There is no harm in hooking them up differently, your temps may suffer slightly as a result. I doubt it makes much of a difference though unless your flow is very low.

There will be no impact, or sometimes a small 2-5C impact.

But why would you make them reverse? No point.

I don't think there is an impact on radiators; it can go either way.

Though for waterblocks it may be designed differently to get the most out of heattransfer
