GTX 460 SLI High Temp

Thread Starter
Ok i just got my second GTX 460 and put it in sli, after linking both at clock 800/1600/2000 I ran FurMark on maximum settings. I waited ten minutes and got 90* for the upper card and 80* for the lower card.

Im worried about the high temp of the first card, is it ok to leave it like that? I know it's a FurMark threshold that torture and i will never get higher than that during games...

EDIT... Heres how its set up.

normal since the lower card is blocking the air intake of the upper card.

whats ur ambient temp?
also that case doesnt look good in terms of air flow.

u can try wedging a folded up piece of paper in between the card so the upper card has space to breath.

yes ur case is too small and has bad airflow. not to mention those EVGA are known to run hot and loud anyway.
i suggest u remove the overclock and do not run furmark.

Judging by the pic, the lower card appears to even suffer more from its intake fan being blocked from free supply of fresh than the top card does. Actually, the top card is in a fairly good position as it has an empty slot gap between itself and the lower card.
So, it is a little surprise that your top card is hotter.

I suggest at least 3 measures to improve:-
1. move the only harddisk up one slot to the top slot, thus reducing the blockage to case's front intake 120mm fan (blue rectangle in pic)
2. install a 92/120mm fan to the side of the HDD cage (green rectangle), helping to push more air to the 2 intake fans of the cards
3. tidy up those cables right in front of the 2 cards (red oval)

Removing the case PCI slot might/might not help. The only way to find out is to try it.

Edit 1:
Welcome to OCN! I notice this is your 4th only post.

looks like u solved the problem if u can bear with the noise, by all mean increasing the fans of the GPU will give the best result.
