The Deck Legend - ToXiC. Good purchase?

OK...so this is an update to my prior thread. Thank you all for helping me. smile.gif

I've decided to take a chance with the black switches. I've heard, compared to the other switches, they are more like normal membrane keyboards but more heavier and more fluid and that's what I'm looking for; something like what I'm using now but more responsive. The majority of people say they are the best for FPSs and playable with RTSs and OK/Descent for typing. I had set my sight on a Filco due to them being the hightest quality (or one of them) around for black switches but now I've set my sights on the Deck Legend - ToXiC. The reason...it's $38 more than the [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Majestouch-Tenkeyless-Linear-Action-Keyboard/dp/B001BR4NLS/ref=sr_1_cc_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1304643202&sr=1-3-catcorr"]Filco Majestouch, Tenkeyless, Linear[/ame], but, with that, you get a Numpad (turns out I do want it for calculator), a cool green alien LED which will go with my case, a 1 year warranty, and a 30 day money back return policy (no restock fee within first 30 days), which I think is important for my first mechinal keyboard. I'll lose, what, $10 or less for return shipping? Not bad, I don't think. wink.gif

Sadly, I have no way of trying it out in a store. I looked on Google and the only store that has them is GameStop and they don't let you try things unless they are on display (which, at my local one, they're not!). I've never seen a mech. keyboard in a store; I would think Radioshack would sell them but meh. doh.gif

So, this is my best bet. I'm just wondering if anyone has anything negative things to say about this keyboard before I purchase?
Also, which do I get; USB or PS2? I'm surprised you can only pick one. I don't know if I have any games to use the NKRO. I only use my keyboard at home. Is there any negatives about using the PS2 connection?
Thanks. thumb.gif

PS: I also looked at the upcoming Mionix Zibal 60, but, meh, I want this. Better LEDs...

Build quality is much better then the Filco, and you get the backlighting.

The board itself is very well put together, and the warranty is amazing. Modding does not void the warranty, as long as the problem isn't directly related to a botched mod job.

The only question is will you like the MX black switches... only way to know is to use it.

Only negative about using ps/2 is you can't plug it in while the computer is on and have it recognized.

Good luck getting your PS/2 connection to work on many modern motherboards.

Yes...I actually looked behind my PC and I can't even find the PS2 port! headscratch.gif:headscrat:headscrat

So it'll be USB then!

Anyway, back on topic.

You can always get a blue box if you don't have a port or yours doesn't work. USB is fine though. As long as you aren't hacking the keyboard for an arcade cabinet or something like that 6kro is more than enough.

I have a Legend Frost. All I have to say is you will get the 'wow factor' when you first plug it in....well shortly after getting over how heavy and well constructed it feels from pulling it out of the box. They are built like a tank, light up like times square, and perform WAAAAAAYYYYY better than a membrane. You will be happy with the purchase. If not 30 days no questions asked....but you won't be using that I promise ya.

Yeah the novelty of the lighting wears out pretty quickly. My first keyboard was a sidewinder x4 and I think I actually only really used the back lighting once. Its pretty impractical because if your looking down at your keys, in the dark or not, your probably dead in whatever game youre playing anyway.

This guy decided to get the USB version of the Deck over the PS/2 version and was happy in the end. Not sure why the Mechanical Keyboard Guide suggests otherwise.
