Sure, in theory this is brilliant but we'll run into trouble down the line me thinks.
ACtually, I think google is going to start cracking down on the phones out there, to get some better standardization in the market. See here:

Its true about android having more low-qual apps, but i was able to pick up CWM/Verizon Bootstrapper/Kernel flasher/CPU control on the official market; that freedom is awesome
+ 1. Netflix is launching with LG Revolution

I've owned an iPhone and an Android phone and I'm an Android fanboy but I've got to admit the iPhone has better apps, not to say Android doesn't have good apps.
same here

interesting, but it doesnt change the fact that about 80% of the apps on both markets are worthless garbage/spam

Still way more profitable to be an iOS developer vice Android. And that's why, as numerous folks have already stated, there are more higher quality apps on iOS.

really? i dont believe this. haha

I don't think this means much. Android had a period of accelerated growth because there's a great degree of profitability in being the first on a new system, e.g. the first fart app, the first guitar tuner, etc. Additionally, Android's development platform is simply more accessible and cheaper than that offered by Apple. However, the user bases of both platforms are significant enough to warrant developing for both if a developer wants to reach the maximum number of users. I think we're reaching a point where most desired functionality is available on both platforms, albeit this sense of "walled gardens" still exists.

More apps obviously does not equate to better apps.

Must chap some of you android users behinds to constantly get dev love after iOS gets theres.

And Chris Pirillo (tech enthusiast turned Apple fanboy) said Android was overhyped....he said ANDROID was overhyped while holding an iPhone. Irony?
