How do I apply thermal compound to an i5-2500k? - Page 2

I always rub (with a card or something) the TIM all over the heatsink and cpu mating surfaces, then wipe it off with a coffee filter. This fills in all the microscopic valleys before applying the actual TIM. Then its either the straight line or center dot.
