Computer Turns on Then Immediately Turns Off - Page 3

Thread Starter
I'm beginning to think more and more it's the motherboard myself.... isn't there a lot more to go wrong with the mother board than the PSU... anyway, does anyone have any suggestions for a cheap motherboard from newegg thats compatible with my CPU ram and graphics card just to get it running again... I mean, the CPU is like 4 years old so I'm thinking it might be hard to find a compatible motherboard.

I'm pretty sure you could buy one off OCN for cheap, but honestly if you can I would upgrade to ddr3 ram, a cheap am3 proc, and maybe an old 770 am3 board. I got mine for like ~$200 at the time. I'm sure now you could get a 3part build for $150.

The best am2 mobo I ever had was the m2n-sli deluxe

edit: I tried, someone could go better

When an evga board starts with FF right at power on it frequently means the board just doesn't work anymore. Had a classy 4-way sli do that, swapped out every component but the board & confirmed the board was toast.

I would put a power supply test but tbh when ever a computer has turned on then immediatly off.. then its either been a unseated processor or the motherboards connections is grounding on the case.. if this is the situation then put electrical tape on the cases risers then reinstall the board..
