Need OC'ing Help

Thread Starter
Hi guys, this is my first post here so I'm sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong fourm. I'm having a little trouble with my system thats in my sig. I recently upgraded my ram to a triple channel kit, Patriot Viper xtreme PC3-1600 2000 Mhz 12 GB (3x4GB), from my old ram, Double Channel kit G-Skill DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 (2GB2x2). With the old ram I was able to hold a steady OC on my i7 930 to around 3.8 with temps at full load in the mid 65's. As I got the new ram today I put everything back to default on my system and in BIOS but I am having a hard time getting any OC to stick. I had to use the XMP profile on the memory to get it to run at 2000mhz but I'm afraid this is limiting how much, if at all, I can OC the processor. Any comments or suggestions would help a lot. My system is everything I listed in my sig.

Someone posted these BIOS settings for a stable OC rig at 4.0 GHz and they do not work for me at all. I changed the ram timings to match what the factory said they need to be at to run the mem at 2000mhz. I just cannot get the system to post with these settings. Looking for some help here please!

Its pretty usual for a i7 that isnt an extreme edition to not run at 2000mhz ram due to the imc. However for 2000mhz ram you will be looking at about an extra 0.25-0.5v on the cpu vcore and a cpu vtt of between +150mv to +250mv to keep it stable. If you need over +250mv on the cpu vtt then your i7 cannot run 2000mhz ram safely

Edit: also dont trust windows to give you a correct dram v rating through software, always set your dram v 0.02v lower than spec as your board would most likely run 0.02v more than set.

So should I use a lower memory setting on my new ram? And if I do, should I start OC'ing again with new memory settings, below the 2000mhz threshold? Any tips would be helpful.
