what's the diff b/w QPI and Uncore?

Thread Starter
Two names, but absolutely the same value, what's going on?
I got 2 questions,
1. what's the diff b/w QPI/VTT/IMC frequency and Uncore frequency?
2. what's the diff b/w QPI/VTT/IMC voltage and Uncore voltage?

I appreciate your help.

not much actually... well... nothing really. Uncore is your basically the core on your cpu that controls the memory an such, basically a Northbridge so to say, but the Uncore value is the multiplier this core is running at. QPI is your northbridge as a frequency value so to say... it gets really confusing if you dont know ALOT about how a computer works in terms of each section of your board, cpu, ram ect and how it interlinks.

Basically all you really need to know is that Uncore is your QPI Multiplier and QPI is your Frequency of your Northbridge. and that your Uncore must be set 2x that of your Ram multiplier, and that your QPI VTT is what you need to adjust to increase the BCLK range of your board.

hope i didnt confuse you further, i know what they are and how they work but explaining it in a way that makes complete sense with no prior knowledge is hard.

CPU frequency = bclock x CPU clock ratio
QPI frequency = bclock x QPI clock ratio
Uncore frequency = bclock x uncore clock ratio
Memory frequency = bclock x System Memory Multiplier (SPD)

Uncore is everything on the die that is not core, primarily, the memory controller and the L3 cache.
All devices not controlled on the CPU die itself have to communicate with the CPU via the QPI

Just to mention a high QPI speeds dont improve performance in day to day applications so much. x36 is enough
