Permissions.... Grrrr aaahhhh

Thread Starter
I thought I left this behind with bloody Vista...

Just installed Win 7 64bit...

And after the other stuff I went into my user folder (you know where all the folders for music are) and I went to each folder (downloads, my music etc) and right clicked > properties > location and then set the new location (which is on another HDD as Windows is on a SSD) ok fine that worked good...

But bloody Windows created 3 new folders which 1) look ugly as hell, 2) I cant actually use 3) I dont want 4) Are bloody double ups anyway 5) I cant hide 6) I cant delete 7) I cant assign myself permissions to....

This sorta stuff pisses me off no end... Im the bloody admin there is only one bloody user account and its me the bloody admin...

GRRRRRRRR

Sorry end rant... Please guys tell me there is a fix for this BS...

Screenshot below just expressing my distain:

Why can't you delete it?
You do not have permisson?

Try this,pretty handy - http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...-shortcut.html

Or the manual way - http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/11...ownership.html

Don't forget to change permissions in the properties for each folder allowing you full control even after you take ownership.

Question 1. Did you upgrade from Vista to 7? Those aren't normal folders 7 installs. Maybe they got left over from the upgrade?

Question 2: Have you tried doing it in safe mode?

You could also try getting the take ownership right click option, but you have to find it online and download/ install it. It is very helpful though

Q1: No fresh Win 7 install. However the folders I linked to are on my HDD are from a Vista install... But they matched up name wise perfectly...

Q2: No... Ill give that a go now... How do you start in safe mode again? Hold down F8 right?

Tried the take ownership thing... Didnt work.

Safe mode shouldn't make a difference I wouldn't think.

Did you try the manual way of taking ownership, sometimes the shortcut doesn't work as well as it should.

Shouldn't have,it only prevents un-needed drivers, basically it starts with the bare minimum.
