Need suggestions for some equipment...

Thread Starter
So I just got paid and am looking to get a few things.

I need a good sub pairing with my M-Audio AV40's.

I need a good headset for music and gaming.

I may need a soundcard as well since I am using onboard...
(I have the Fiio E7 though if that will work better than a sound card)

I listen to a lot of EDM.

Budget is around $300-500.

This took 15 mins to type because of my lack of sleep...

Yes.

Any you can find in your price range. Check out Headfi's for sale section to get the best deal.

That's 12 inches, slightly more than before.

I think I am going to go with the beyerdynamic DT 990, but I don't know which application I should go with? 32ohm, 250ohm, or 600ohm?

the 250 and 600 ohm versions will require you to get a headphone amp, according to the specs of the E7 which you stated you had it can take up to 300 ohms meaning you could get the 250ohm version and be able to drive them with the E7.

how well it might sound, i have no idea....

Seeing as he already has an E7 it would be much more cost effective to buy a Fiio E9 to use a headphone amp and it would also let him get line out of the DAC on the E7.

I have the DT990/250 and listen to some electronic and dubstep as well and I can say is wow. I came from using on-board audio and a Carcharias headset. You will be amazed at the improvement. I am a fledgling audiophile at best but the 990's have an amazing bass kick for open headphones and come highly recommended from me. I drive it through an Asus Essence STX and think it sounds fantastic.
