I've only run air once on an i7...never again.

Get rid of that stock cooler. The Hyper 212 is a much better HS.
I'm guessing your ambient air temps are high as well.

Regardless of why you picked the 2500k, it has an unlocked multiplier. Why would you even consider overclocking with the bclk?

Get a thermalright HR-02, they may be £50 but they're worth it, overclocked to 4.2 it doesnt break 65C with case fans on lowest rpm using fan controller and running it fanless. Then if you want to overclock further just add a gentle typhoon, my case is very very quiet. Also overclock using the multiplier not blck and use manual voltage so the cpu is drawing unnecessary heat by using too higher voltage.hope this helps

Overclock the CPU using the multiplier, not the BCLK.

Do not overclock the CPU until you upgrade the heatsink. A Hyper 212+ with an added fan for Push/Pull is going to be good up to about 4.8GHz safely in most, but not all, cases. Some people with very good chips and low voltage clocks up to 5.0GHz are staying cool enough to use this heatsink, but you'd be pushing 85-90C+.

Silver Arrow and D14 are going to get you past the 5.0GHz barrier if the chip will allow it. Both of those heatsinks outperform the H50 and the H70. If the H70 has a good push/pull on the RAD, it may get slightly better temps.

If you have some money to work with, put it under water. The heatsinks that are good enough to keep it cool are huge! RASA 750 kit or even EK H30 Supreme LT 120 would do very well, but I would opt for a 240 or better if I were you. You can add things to the loop and you will want too if you turn into an oc hungry stud.

EDIT: There are a lot of good TIM's out there. Can't go wrong with AS5, MX-2, or MX-4.

Not to be lame but you just suggested him tims that are more than 3 yrs old in 2 of the cases.... why not some tuniq tx-4 or ic7 or somthing that is now currently known as a good tim not from 5 yrs ago

That's because thermal max on an AMD CPU is 62c. Intel CPU's thermal max is higher.
