blue-ray storage backup

Thread Starter
I'm considering transferring some of my files from my HDD to blue-ray disks because I'm out of space (both hdd and space for a new hdd). However, I'm slightly concerned with the lifespan of the disk - how long would it go before I started to get data corruption and such? I've heard some brands have failed within a year.

Any ideas/opinions? I'm looking to backup a little over 1.2TB of data currently.

I'd just buy a 2TB HDD and put it all there.

BD's usually last for a long time anyway.
