Asus crosshair iv formula mobo dram and cpu usue

Thread Starter
I had a cheap 550 power supply on my rig but had an Asus 460GTX top GFX card, I upgraded the GFX card to an Asus Radeon HD 6870 but had a few random shut downs so assumed that the power consumption on the GFX was to much for the PSU with everything else hooked up so bought a MUKii 750w PSU. I hooked that up but things have been gone wired since then.

I’m not sure if it is the PSU but my problem is that sometimes I would start my pc up and it would hang on a blank screen/ Windows 7 loading screen/ inside windows or even blue screen of death. When I restart my PC it hangs before the BIOS loads and the CPU and DRAM light flashes. I then remove a ram chip and restart and it goes in fine. After a while (if I don’t get the blue screen of death) I would switch my PC off again and have the same issues.

I’ve mixed and matched ram thinking it might be that but I’ve take ram out and restarted, it went in then i would switch my pc off insert the same stick I took out and it would work again. I have run Memorytest Plus 4.10 and it says all my ram chips are fine. I have also had it where i would remove a Ram chip, restart then it would hang on the VGA light, I then switch my pc of swop around RAM and it would start fine again.

Does anyone know what might cause this, or if there are any tests I can do to check the issue? All my drivers are up to date and fine but this problem is getting worst, as it occurring on a more regular basis.

My specs:

The randomly placed CPU GFX card and Ram lights on the MOBO are all green ( which should be red if its in error ).

My cpu temp is at 33 loading and about 47 on full load if that helps. Not sure why I get the blue screen though

Is your system OC'd?
Have you tested with everything at stock settings?
Which bios version are you running?
After changing out the GPU did you remove all old drivers with DriverSweeper? Might be driver conflict?

Please post a couple snips or screen shots of CPUZ showing both the CPU and the Memory tab this will help show us your current settings.

You might try hitting the Mem OK button page 2-24 on the manual

There's a lot of things that could cause this, but we'll need more info as to what you've tried so far, plus the above.

I'd suggest flashing bios to the 1304 bios unless you've already got the 1902.

I also have a list of common settings for the bios if you're interested and/or need help with that.

You should also go to the "User Control Panel" and fill out your rig sig as it makes it easier for those helping you.

There is also a link in my sig you should look at, and feel free to join by adding your name to the Members List. Just under the spread sheets there are several links to some very helpful threads. If you have the need feel free to PM me as I'm always happy to help those that ask for it.
