Random crashes

Thread Starter
So just wanted to get some thoughts from the forum before sinking money into a psu I may not need.

Ive recently started to get random crashes in windows 7 and I think it might be related to power. I have an 850W running the following.

I7 950 clocked to 4.4ghz under water
2 x gtx470 clocked to 800mhz under water
9 ultra kaze fans
Laing d5 for the CPU loop
Mpc365 for the gpu loop

This was working fine for quite a while and the only thing that has changed is that I moved house. I don't think there has been a leak as I have checked but I guess this can't be ruled out 100%.

I've tried removing the power to one of the gpu and this works for a while until it reboots and the gpu has artifacts. This is not permanent though and the artifacts go away an hour later

Have you tried checking windows error logs to see what might be causing the crashes? Start, right-click computer, manage, event viewer, custom views and critical or error logs. Hope this helps

Yes this has been checked. Just the usual power down unexpected etc. Its the reason I think it is the psi add creaked drivers would probably leave something in the logs that world give me a clue.

are you getting voltage BSOD i.e 7e,101,50,8e?
Although i was luving my scores with my GTX 465 in my Sandy rig, my CPU really didnt like that "extra juice" being sucked away. As far as artifacting goes...if the card is artifacting at all, that is an issue to begin with. I would try reflashing the VGA BIOS with another or the same to see if that clears it up. I had a Zotac 8600GT that was causing me a very similar problem so bad that i put it in a shoe box for 2 years. Then one day I just thought, "...I wonder if I blind flash it...if it'll work again?" and low and behold everything cleared up and I still use it to this day. It actually works better IMO.

Oh...you know those cards are probly pulling 750-800watts by themselves right?

No bsod, just powers down for 30 seconds and then it powers back on. I'm pretty sure its the psu.
