Could I improve on this build?

Thread Starter
First of all I appreciate all of you who took a look at this.

Basically I'd like to fit these components into my current case and run it with my current power supply. I'd like to know if any of you have suggestions on how to make this build cheaper/better and if it'll actually run with my current power supply.

This build will primarily be used for gaming/design related work(rendering, photoshopping, after effects, video compiling etc...). I'd like to oc to a reasonable amount with moderate money spent into aftermarket coolers.

You can use the website - http://www.playtech.co.nz/ to check on any of the prices of suggestions.

A budget of ~$1890NZD

$355 - i5 2500K - http://www.playtech.co.nz/afawcs0139...ctdetails.html

$51 - CM212 Plus - http://www.pp.co.nz/products.php?pp_...2&ref=pricespy

$120 - G.SKILL Ripjaws (2GB x 2) DDR3-1600 (PC-12800) CL8-8-8-24 - http://www.playtech.co.nz/afawcs0139...ctdetails.html

$309 - ASUS P8P67 Intel P67 USB3 SATA3 DDR3 Sandy Bridge LGA1155 ATX Motherboard (Revised B3 Chipset) - http://www.playtech.co.nz/afawcs0139...ctdetails.html

At this point I have about $~1055NZD left that I'd like to throw into gpu and gpu coolers(if necessary)

I'm not sure if I can run anything in crossfire/sli without requiring additional gpu coolers or if my power supply can even handle everything above with dual graphics cards. Suggestions welcome at this point.

Your PSU should be fine with components especially since the newer processors use less power. Although as far as making it cheaper, find a cheaper processor. Since the new Sandy Bridge processors can overclock so high and easily, could with one with a lower stock speed. It will be cheaper and then you can just overclock it to whatever you would like it to be at.

I know next to nothing about ATI cards. I'm an NVidia user. I can recommend brands though but I'm not sure if that will help you or not. ASUS, MSI, XFX, PNY, GIGABYTE, and Saphire. That will hopefully narrow down your search a little bit.

A 6950/70 2gb is a good investment. plus you can always buy a 2nd whenever, if you feel like going xfire later, great scaling on the 6k cards

Only the K processors have unlocked multipliers, so you're stuck with 2500k/2600k if you want to OC.

2500k is a great CPU =Ice=, Do not change that.
2500k and 2600k are the only Sandy Bridge processors that "Overclock so high"

Radeon 6950 would be a great choice, or if it's too expensive go with a GTX 560 if it's cheaper.
