Okidokies,
Hey all, first time making a build log for a pc since this is the first time i have had money to be able to buy a decent WC setup.

Parts:

Case: NZXT PHANTOM RED
Motherboard: Asus P6t (reusing from a previous build since there is nothing wrong with it)
CPU: Intel i7 920 - has been OC on an after market air cooler at 4Ghz plan to up this some more with WCing
RAM: G.Skill Trident F3-16000CL9T-6GBTDD (6x2GB) DDR3 (i already have 6gig will get another 6 to put it up to 12)
GPU: Asus 6990
PSU: Corsair AX1200 Gold Power Supply
HDD: OCZ Vertex 2 3.5" 120GB SSD + Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB

Watercooling:

GPU Block : EK-FC6990 Acetal + Nickel + Backplate
CPU Block : XSPC Rasa Black CPU Acetal
XSPC RX360 - Triple 120mm high performance radiator
Swiftech MCP655â„¢ 12 VDC Pump
Tygon R-3603 1/2" ID 3/4" OD Chemical Tubing
Bitspower G1/4" Matte Black Compression Fitting - 1/2" ID (3/4" OD Tube)
YATE LOON 120x120x20mm Case Fan - D12SM-12C Medium Speed x3 in push
Scythe 120mm SlipStream Slim 1600rpm Fan in pull ( have to use these as i need 12mm fans to fit inside the case' top housing.

Planned Mods

Case: NZXT PHANTOM RED
Plan: Mod the top to house a RX360 Rad in p/p
Change the stock 200mm fan LED's from blue to red
Change the fan control LED's from blue to red
Remove one of the HDD bays since it wont be in use and looks ugly
Cut a window into the side panel
PSU: Corsair AX1200
Plan: Re-sleeve cables in black and red
Once the parts arrive and i find my cable to recharge my camera ill post some pics stay tuned!

I am doing a build with the same PSU and am building all of my cables from scratch. A couple of things to note. The PCIe cables have the ferrite rings on them. Also, the 8 PIN PCIe cable connectors (both in the PSU and corresponding cables) are not PCIe V1 or V2. They are keyed (the little squares and angled keys) in a proprietary pattern. Hence, I had to reuse (destroy) the original cables that came with my PSU to make my custom cables so I could use the connector that plugs into the PSU..

Good Luck,
John

PARTS ARRIVED!

ok update:
my previous computer was stripped down, i was surprised at the amount of dust on some of the fan blades.

The new reservoir has arrived and i have mounted the pump inside it. lookin good so far.

trying to take off the stock Radeon HD 6990 fan casing was a nightmare. For anybody installing a waterblock on one you need to push the GPU screw threads back through the board as they can be VERY tight. Anyway its on and im looking forward to seeing some benchmarks.

Installing the XSPC rasa cpu block turned out tricky, but only because i was puting the backplate on sideways its on now and secure, what i didnt anticipate was the space between the intake and outlets on the block. my compression fittings dont fit side by side so i have had to buy some 45 degree adaptors. they should arrive on monday so i have the weekend to modify the case to fit the RX360 Rad.

I bought some .5mm thick aluminium sheeting from bunnings but its way too thin to be used to support the rad so i took a drive out to rockdale to Capral aluminium center and picked up a 1.2mm thick and 1.6mm thick piece. The guys there were great, i ended up finding the pieces i need from offcuts they had and they also cut them to the shape that i needed. i highly recommend these guys for anybody in sydney looking for aluminium.

i used the .5mm sheet as a template and to test out cutting with my Dremel. im glad i did this because i completely $%^&# up that piece lol.

I have also started to cut out the top of the Phantom to house the RX360. Help from another member on the NZXT forums was crucial in his part. (ill link to the specific thread when i update with pics) there isnt much room for a RX360 in the phantom and there is alot of room to go wrong.

and finally i have de-soldered the stock blue Fan controll LEDs and replaced them with red ones to match my colour scheme.

Things to do:
Complete the Case modifications to house the Radiator
test the radiator for leaks - i think i may have damaged one of the small pipes, id rather check now than wait till everything is installed.
Resleeve the AX1200 power supply cables individually with black and red 550 paracord.
put the pc back together again and install the water loop.
light the case.

ill update with pics when i find where i left my phone
