[PCGamer] How Deus Ex: Human Revolution feels on PC - Page 5

Two things from the article:

1. How does a PC review site have such a ****ty computer? I mean its not that bad by normal standards, but seriously? a 4800? Time for an upgrade...

2. I found this mis-informed quote hilarious:

"How is it a console port when its being developed on the PC from the ground up? A console port is released on consoles and then later released on PC after they have PORTED everything over to work on PC. Something that is made on PC from the ground up isn't a port just because its also released on consoles, especially when they are specifically making certain features for the PC only."

I don't know, the fact that this is a console port, and the limited graphics options that you have I feel like this is a budget purchase for me at this point.
In their defense, I reckon they used a PC that more closely resembles one that is more likely to be the rig of the avarage casual gamer.
I doubt they would have to tell us it runs great on a i7 with the latest nVidia or ATI tech.

They are seriously porting this FROM consoles, TO PC's? ***? It's Deus Ex. The average console gamer wouldn't even like the game anyway if it's anything like the first one. Which it more than likely will not be by the sounds of all this.

I share your pain, although I don't believe they necessarily dumbed down the game for console gamers, I think the market for: challenging or somewhat slower paced games isn't as large as it used to be.

The combat in Deus Ex was always well balanced and far in between, sometimes it was just fun walking about and exploring the area and try to see paths of opportunity.

From all the various trailers this seems more like an action game where you either choose to be very stealthy or choose to be an action hero.
I hope it will resemble the first game however, I loved it how talking to a normal NPC could net you valuable information about a mission, instead of the nowadays HUGE arrows pointing your path or exhibiting you whom to talk to to get information.

Deus Ex was engrossing since normal basic actions (like shooting a fellow agent, or some story NPC) could actually change a few scene (although not game changing) still I loved it, no markers no arrows, just plain ol' exploring and dialogue-ing.

Seems like you know exactly what I was getting at with that short post of mine. To me, all of what you said here is basically what made Deus Ex what it is/was. I really hope it doesn't end up the way I expect it to though.

I tried to finish the first Deus Ex. I can't play it anymore, it's unbearable lol Too dated for my taste. Not that it's a bad game, but I just can't deal with for example: the repeating footstep noises and the combat. Shooting a guy with a rifle (which barely hits), and then have to chase him in a cartoon style fashion
Game shows it's age is all.

you did NOT read what I said.
I know there are good ports. DMC4, RE5, Just Cause 2, ME2 (to an extent), Bulletstorm, GTA4, I could go on and on: are all considered good ports.
BUT - those were all done in house by the original developers. Not externally.

Resident Evil 4 (PC) and Bayonetta (PS3) were not done by the developers themselves. Just like Deus Ex:Human Revolution. The game is being done by a separate group of people apparently. Instantly spells trouble in my mind. I hope they prove my suspicions dead wrong.

I believe the Homefront PC port was done by a separate group wasn't it? I am lead to believe they made the port quite well apart from the game just being boring and bland. They even put in many specific PC features and were going to put in Eyefinity support at a later date to see how much need for it there actually was.

If I am wrong please correct me

I have a feeling this game will be slightly better than average. Its not going to be anywhere near as epic as the first one but I imagine it'll still be good fun.

Unfortunaty i've had to downgrade my spec to an M11x-r2 as i'm going travelling and need portability. I'm sure if I can play BFBC2 at 50FPS at mostly high i'll tackle this game fine as well at the native 1366x768. Bring it on!!
