Silver Arrow VS Corsair H60

Thread Starter
Hey guys, I'm trying to decide which of these I should upgrade to, as I will be purchasing very soon. Now before you guys just jump right up and say "silver arrow!! H60 is weak sauce!!", I have a little bit of a different scenario.

A week or two ago I bought myself the thermalright shaman cooler for my gpu, and it is epic. Awesome performance and very quiet. However, the heatsink blows its hot air right of its fins into my mugen 2, raising the temps of my cpu substantially. When my cpu is loaded at 100% with the gpu at idle, I believe I was getting roughly 60c load temps, maybe a little more. But with the gpu and cpu at full load, my cpu temps were hitting 70c easy, sometimes more depending on the ambient.

So, I ask you guys, which would be better for my scenario? An H60 that can intake cool air from the outside of the case or a silver arrow that intakes warm air from the gpu below it? Also, take into account that I can get the H60 for $20 cheaper than I could with the SA.

no the arrow even in a hot case will perform better then a h60 lol get the arrow!

When you're using the Archon, did you have the rear fan as intake pulling in cool air?

Does the 8800 GTS not exhaust out the back like every other reference cooler design in existence?

The Silver Arrow should spank the H60, no questions.

The Silver Arrow will outperform the H50/H60/H70 by almost 8ºC.

With no doubts, pick up the Silver Arrow!

The silver Arrow/d-14 only have one real competitor, Full Water Loop. Hybrid systems cant keep up with the two of them. If you want the arrow, get it! you wont be unhappy with it.
Also for GPU temp controll, use a side pannel fan as intake, hang a fan off the back of the HDD cage pointed at the GPU, then add a fan in the bottom of the case as intake, infront of the PSU. Lastly, remove ALL of your PCI slot covers, or get mesh ones. This will allow any air being traped between the PSU and GPU to exit faster/easyer than any exhaust fans in the top of the case will. I have the 690II and my fans are set up like that, works great at dealing with GPU temps and getting the heat out of the case.

I think your a little confused, cause my sig rig is a little bit confusing. I used to have a gtx 560, that I used the shaman with, and I stepped up to a gtx 580, but i'm using this 8800gts until I get my 580.

Also, I have never used an archon before, but I was thinking about turning the rear fan into an intake, and changing the airflow a little bit.

But the SA would win either way?

yes, Silver Arrow, if you want to try somtihng with your airflow, I'll post a pick of my airflow in a second or two.

Silver arrow over the Corsair hydro series any day. I've got an H50 with push pull AP-31s and Khaotic gets almost my core temps with alot less noise; that SA is a beast.

Edit: The hydro series was a good idea but they just don't stand up to the newer top performing air coolers like the D14 and the silver arrow, you won't be disappointed with the SA you more than likely would be with a hydro series cooler.
