Ocing 4x Sapphire 5850s on 1 board

Thread Starter
Im wondering: Is it possible to overclock 4x Sapphire 5850s (extreme) on one motherboard?

Im trying to get the most gfx power per $, and at $140 per 5850 I think this is the card to do it. If they're NOT in crossfire, they should overclock normally, right? Or would I need them to be in crossfire to allow all 4 cards to be used? If so, they only have 1 crossfire connector on the top of the card, so they wont do quad crossfire... I think. Im new to multi-gpu setups. Most important thing is, could I overclock and use 4x cards on a single motherboard? Im thinking this board will do the trick.

You could put 4 of them on a board but you can only crossfire 2 of em. so only 2 would get used while playing games.

... yes. They wont be used for gaming. Its going to sit in a room somewhere and run full tilt all the time.

I want to know if I can do a lot of calculations on the 4 cards without having them in crossfire, as well as overclock them.

I'm pretty sure you can't do more than 2 of these cards in crossfire.

Yes, you can overclock them independently.
