H70 being replaced with Air cooler

Thread Starter
Ok so for some reason I went and got an H70 cooling unit which upon first installing I found the pump wasn't functioning.
This annoyed me and has caused me to return back to air cooling. I was going to get an NH D14 and install this but corsair Vengeance RAM doesn't fit due to heat spreaders on the top, so i'm looking for another cooling unit which will fit.
Basically what is the best air cooling unit that I can get which would produce similar results to the NH D14 (I know its supposedly the best but there must be something similar).
I have 2 12cm Akasa Vipers which I was going to use on the H70, so a cooling unit which supports this size of fan. If it doesn't it doesn't overly matter as fans aren't too expensive and refund of H70 should supply a good amount towards cooling unit.

You could try the Thermalright Archon or the Thermalright HR-02. Both are designed not to interfere with high heatsinks. And you've got a HAF-X so space isn't an issue.

And the Thermalright Silver Arrow and Thermalright Archon are better at cooling with relatively low noise.

So why wait.

hyujmn: I'll have a look at those I hadn't heard of them thanks
Born4TheSky: I have terrible luck with these things, I said to myself if I get a liquid cooling system and it crashes just refund it or else the next one will explode everywhere or something
blackbalt89: I believe the Thermalright Silver arrow doesn't fit either due to size, it was my next choice

The Archon with two TY-140s will come pretty close in performance to both the NH-D14 and Silver Arrow and it was built with RAM clearance in mind. Or even better get two Gentle Typhoon AP-15s.

I would take a look at that.

Thermalright Archon.

thermalright venomous x won't interfere with RAM slots and it cools within 1-2c of the D14

edit: $60 shipped here

And if you don't like the AP-15s you can use them as case fans for somewhere.

Or use the TY-140s as case fans.

Just make sure that your case is tall enough to fit the Archon. It's a bit on the tall side. Also make sure it doesn't get too close to the first slot on your motherboard. Might interfere with video cards. Really depends on the layout of your mobo.

sexybastard: I may have a look at that, UK though, postage is a lot for me from america

blackbalt: I'm defo tempted by the gentle typhoons, I can't find the AP-15, where I get them only has Gentle typhoons with different RPMs, ranging from 1850RPM to 5400RPM, which one should I be getting?

I have a HAF X case, im told it is the largest case on the market currently so it should be tall enough, and theres a good 5 to 6 inches before ya reach the video card on my mobo lol
