2 Bootpartitions, help

Hello,

Following question, i want to have 2 different OS's on my pc, Windows 7 and Windows XP and i'm just checking some things, so it won't go wrong. So basically Windows XP is gonna be the main 1 with my games etc and nothing else and i gonna use Windows 7 for all other works. So how should i do it? Do i just install Windows 7 with all my hd space, 320gb - without doing any partitions in Windows setup and then try to do the partitions in Windows and then install Windows XP somehow or?

And do these Windows have anything to do with each other, for example if 1 OS have some problems, for example a virus or w/e is the other OS affected aswell or that doesn't have any effect on it?

Btw is there anyway to get AHCI mode drivers for Windows XP sp3 x64? Because i can't rly boot into XP without having the mode set to IDE.

i5 2500k
ASUS P8P67QL Pro
RipJaws 2x2GB
SAMSUNG SpinPoint F4 320gb
ATI HD4850

Thanks

I can't fix some problems with my sensitivity when i install some different programs and since i'm a high calibre player and i only play 1 game i need it to be sorted, ye i know it sounds weird. I've tried everything but no success yet, so i gonna have to do this.

Btw thank you for the guide, i see how it works now - but where can i get the AHCI mode drivers, or the SATA ones? So i can use AHCI mode for W7 and XP? You got any idea?
