Post your system specs. What's your PSU watts? How many monitors at what resolution?

If you want the best single GPU period - GTX 580 Lightning.

If you want a better price per performance but not the best AMD 6970 Lightning.

Not anymore, GTX 580 has a 3GB version which is even greater than AMD 6970 2Gb card, can run higher res and better performance albeit at a higher price but more performance.

IMHO the 6970 is the thing to do. i personally dont think you will use all 2GB (as i only use about 900MB in crysis bench) but the literal 2x performance in CF is amazing.
Also ATI drivers are realllly turning the corner and pretty tight now.
