Sapphire 6990 poor performance pls help!!

Thread Starter
I just purchased a Sapphire 6990 for my PC. I'm upgrading from a 5870 and I have to say that I dont see much performance gain. Crysis 2 on max graphics and eyefinity will give me max 30fps at 5244X1050 res. I used to get 15-20 FPS with my 5870. So a 10FPS increase for 800$? WOW

Bulletstorm Will go around 20FPS too... Max settings.

Am I doing something wrong or do I have a bad card?

I uninstalled my drivers using the AMD uninstalling software and Even ran driver sweaper, reinstalled 11.4 drivers(official release)

Setup eyefinity and it seems that when I reboot my eyefinity setup resolution will drop from 5K to 3K and I have to disable and recreate de group to get 5K again. Please help me.

under performance, in CCC, should be a crossfire tab, but with mine it was enabled default so it probably is for you also. Try the OC bios switch on the card, it will help. Also, do a 3dmark11 test on P, and i can see if its close to mine when it was stock or not

Where is that switch?

Also i just tried bulletstorm in Eyefinity... 11FPS..

I checked a video on youtube... the guy has my old card 5870, eyefinity max settings no AA he gets fullspeed 40-50FPS and i only get 11?

There is no crossfire tab.
I ran heaven and had CCC opened with the performance tab... the 2nd GPU is underclocked... i tried going to 830 and then fell down to 250mhz... stayed at that speed for the whole benchmark.

I used gpuZ and it said Crossfire is enabled.. openlCL is not yet 11.4 and the SDK package both have the openCL drivers....

I will download 3dmark and post my score.

FYI i removed the drivers and installed the one from Sapphire's website and downloaded the crossfire drivers too... still the same poor performance, i think 1 core might be defective.

Wait.... 5244X1050 resolution??!! You might be only getting a 10-15 fps increase but that's almost doubled your previous frames!

yea maybe just a defect card, sapphire is good about RMA, or send back to where ya bought it and just rebuy. Try the latest 11.4 official drivers on amd's site, and make sure it doesnt say anything failed after the drivers install.

I got the latest 11.4 drivers. i tried both the ones from AMD and Sapphire and it is still the same. So far my 5870 out performs my 6990 and that is really bad. I sold a card for 200$ to buy one for 800$ nd it performs worst.....

CPU architecture is holding you back by ALOT! AMD uses old architecture that's why it's not optimized for games. AKA bottlenecking

I was told a 1090T X6 at 4ghz was way more then enough for a 6990.
Even if it was a bottleneck issue it doesn't explain why it performs so poorly and even worst then my old card.
