Intel i5-2500 temperatures?

Hey OCN. I have had my motherboard replaced to the new B3 revision. Anyways i purchased Arctic Silver 5.
Anyway first day i put the line method on the cpu, placed the HSF on. Applied pressure to make it spread nicely. Picked the HSF up to see that the heatsink and cpu were making good contact and reseated it and screwed it down.

I was playing BC2 and saw my temperatures on 2 cores enter the 70 degree range. I was hesitant and decided to re-seat.

I used the pea method and this time around didn't check to see if it had made good contact or not. I was at my mates place and played bc2 and didn't see it hit above 59 degrees so i was impressed.

However now im back home im seeing it hit the 70's again. I ran prime95 and got scared it even hit the 80 degree mark. Im not sure if im seating it right or what i should do. Can you guys please leave me feedback as to what i should do? It's the NON K version CPU btw Cheers guys

It's not you, or the paste, it's the stock cooler. I can't stress it enough that the stock cooler is absolutely horrible. It does the job for some things, but gaming is certainly not one of them.

Grab yourself a nice aftermarket cooler and you'll be seeing some really nice temperatures.
