Computer Beeps When Waking Up

Hi All,

I'm running into an issue- When i wake the computer up from sleep, I get a 2-3 second error beep. When I restart or turn the computer on, I don't get the problem so I'm unsure what to do next. I have a GIGABYTE GA-890FXA-UD.

Thanks for the help!

Try checking the user manual to see if any beep codes are listed. If not I'd ask gigabyte technical support.. unless someone on here happens to know what this means. I tried looking for it on the internet, no luck.

Check your computer's/motherboard manual, there should be a list of error codes that are assigned to a certain amount of beeps.

Is it just two quick beeps, or one long one short, or both long, etc.

thanks for the quick responses. I've checked the manual and according to it, that means the memory needs to be reseated. Problem being that it 100% does not happen when it is restarting or from a cold boot, only when it wakes up. If it were the memory i would think it would happen everytime.

Hm.. well reseat it and make sure it's seated well. Odd.. but let us know if that fixes it.

I have scoured the 'net for an answer to this and not found it .. so I went looking.
My PC is 2 years old. I am not sure if the issue is new since I only started using sleep with Win7. I never trusted Vista. It has been bugging me for a few weeks not knowing if it indicated a problem, but Eureka! I have found it with some help from Gigabyte.
If you turn off the fan fail warnings in the BIOS it goes away!
On my system if either CPU Fan fail, or System Fan2 fail warning is on, or both then this 3 second beep happens. Not sure if its intentional warning, or the fan takes 3 seconds to spin up. On my PC, System Fan1 warning set to enabled does NOT trigger the beep sound and my system fans are identical Coolermasters.
I am no longer concerned, and I choose to live with the beep rather than turn off my fan fail warnings.
There are many programs (e.g. Speedfan) that will alert to fan failure if you prefer to turn them off in the BIOS.
Brian
