This is why an H67 rig makes the most sense to me. With my monitor hooked up to the motherboard hdmi, quicksynch is active, my HDTV is hooked up to the HD 6850. The only real CPU intensive task most folks do is encoding video, so an H67 rig is faster than a 5ghz P67 by a far margin with quick synch. Plus with the i2500 you get better vitualiztion Vt-d with hardware support. All around good system for most people, and probably less troublsome than the Z68 3rd party workaround to get quicksynch working.
I think the whole K series SB is a bit a a sales gimmick, at least for my uses.
Some have a legitamet need to run 5 ghz, but I don't and I bet a lot of folks don't if they look at it objectively.
