the reason this is happening is because Windows 7 doesn't use a "boot.ini" file like XP does. When you installed XP, it made that file and now when the PC starts, it assumes that XP is the only OS there. I have yet to successfully create a dual boot config with 7 AND XP on the same drive.

Hope this helps.

It's called EasyBCD, dude.

Install 7, then XP, then install EasyBCD, then make a boot MBR for 7, then you're done.
Voila! Dual boot ahoy!

Use your motherboard disk to install the ethernet drivers or get them on the ASUS website from another machine and move them over.

Also look at your motherboards instruction manual and look at which button you press at POST to get into the Boot Manager. That way you can select what to boot into. I think it's F12 or Alt-F12 or something like that anyways.
try installing drivers also amurph is right there should be a boot manger but im not sure of the commands but you could always try deleting the xp partition that should solve your problem if indeed 7 is still there or looking in to using a bootloader of some kind maybe but as i said before you have 4gb of ram and using 32bit os this should be moot and you just install the 64bit version if there really isnt anything important on the hdd so can use the 4gb of ram instead of 3gb

Click "Add/Remove Entries" on the left.

Set "Drive" to the letter that contains XP installation and set "Type" to "Windows NT/2k/XP/2k3".
You can modify "Name" if you want. Selecting the Drive letter is optional I think but I added it in here in case it was needed.

Click the "Add Entry" button on the bottom right corner.
A dialogue box will popup with Automated NTLDR Configuration, click YES.

Done!

If it says you've got the XP bootloader, then follow those steps for 7 instead

Did you direct EasyBCD so that it knew where 7 was installed?

I honestly have no idea! It looks fine...

Are you *REALLY* sure you haven't wiped 7?

Look through the partition.

Is there a folder called "Documents and Settings"?
Or is it called "Users"?
