Overclocking help request from newbie

Thread Starter
Hello,

I am new to overclocking and decided to give this skill a try. I have an old CPU - Intel D805 2.66 GHz Pentium D. Since its beginning to get slow, I thought why not speed it up a bit?

My motherboard wasnt bought with future overclocking plans! Its an ASUS P5LD2-VMSE.
It lists the following details:
FSB : 800/533 MHz
Memory : DDR2 667/533 MHz non-ECC unbuffered DIMMs

and my processor is like 133 x 20 = 2.66 GHz

I have tried to manually overclock the 133 to 166 (currently installed RAM is 667 MHz)
so that processor speeds up to 3.33 GHz. But it doesnt even go up to 140! forget 166.

Thats pretty much i have tried. Sometimes (1 in 10 attempts) it does 2.8 GHz (139 FSB) but thats it. Unusable regularly basically.

My RAM is Transcend Value 2 x 1GB
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Manish
