Okay that just means I will not buy EA games that adopt this model.

Activision
Ubisoft
EA

I liked what I was seeing with BF3, but if it's going to a subscription model I won't be playing it. There are plenty of games out there and I'm not into renting games.

oh, HELL NO!
if they call the current situation defensive, hell no!!

I'm not sure where people are getting a subscription model from, it says nothing about a subscription model in the source.

Quote:
"Over the coming years, we will transform EA from a packaged goods company to a fully integrated digital entertainment company," he explained.

EA will start with its stable IP such as FIFA, Madden, Battlefield, Need for Speed, The Sims, Tetris, Dragon Age. "We fully intend to make these properties into year-round businesses that lead their sectors across a range of platforms," Riccitiello said.
Sounds to me that they're going to continue to support their games year-round with DLC. That's no reason to rage, if you don't want it don't buy it.

Sadly, there will be some that love FIFA/Madden so much that they may be willing to pay subscription fees to play. I am not one of those people.

Games as a Service is based off of Software as a Service model in the business sector. Basically you pay money each month to use software (a.k.a. subscription fee).

That's still a reason to be mad about this. Some people want to spend $60 on a game (which is very expensive) and then NOT have to spend any more money on that game in order to receive the full enjoyment.

DLC turns into the haves and have nots. Much like map packs, weapon packs and music packs. It's all a load of crap. Once you buy a game, you should get everything that comes with it and if the developers and publishers feel like creating more content for that game they should give it to us for free, or not at all.

That will not succeed as there are countless free custom mods for Fifa and Pro Evolution Soccer both for pc and consoles, that add new and up-to-date compethtions, leagues, stats, teams, players, stadiums, chants etc. Btw in those mods fifas statistics were copied from Fifa Manager. Also database editors are available where you can change anything in the game.

Probably one reason EA decides to adopt this model
