Again, the OT just wants to game and overclock and as you can see, the Phenom's are quite capable of handling any game on the market.
Is a Core i better clock for clock? Yes.
Is a Core i significantly more expensive? Yes.
Can they both do what the OT intends to do with them? Yes, with ease!
Where's the turmoil?
AM3+ motherboard with a Phenom II and he won't have to worry about buying a new motherboard every year when Intel decides to make you buy a new socket. He'll be good for Bulldozer and Enhanced Bulldozer at least.
something interesting for you. Nice try with the Core 2 number smudging by the way.
You don't know what you're talking about. Intel is not significantly more expensive anymore. For the price of an x6 you're within range of a 2500k, with boards at similar price points. Plenty of deals on 1156 stuff as well, which is faster then current AMD and shouldn't be much slower then BD(possibly even equals in games). Who knows.
And it's impossible to say how "good" someone will be with BD since we have ZERO performance numbers that aren't crocks.
I don't see how anyone can recommend AMD, RIGHT NOW. Maybe in a few months, but now is not the time to buy an AMD system. Hell, even my little i3 is much more consistent in games then a Phenom II, and kills the Athlon II's.
I love AMD, but now is not the time to buy from them on the CPU side.
I don't see how you can possible say a Phenom II is in the same league as a core ix processor with a straight face.
I honestly felt like an idiot after buying several budget AMD Athlon II\\Phenom II systems, when i3 were the same price. hell for 40 more then a 955, an i5 760 could have been had.Edited by Horsemama1956 - 5/7/11 at 5:54am
