2600k 4.6Ghz wall?

Thread Starter
Using a GIGABYTE p67-UD4-B3 motherboard I can't get 4.6 stable. I can boot if I have PLL boost and LLC on if I leave the voltages to auto, but it fails prime95. However as soon as I touch the voltages the machine won't boot and then fails to POST. Any ideas? Do I just have the world's worst 2600k?

I'd loosen your memory timings, Try going with 9-9-9-24 and then boot.

That's what they were already at.

EDIT: Something else appears to be wrong, it won't boot at stock.

are you disabling pll and turbo then enabling llc?

i have turbo off, pll off and llc on.

the only voltages i have set are vcore (1.38) vtt( 1.080) and ram (1.5) everything else is set to auto.

this is for the same board, but i have a 2600k.

For B3 UD4 board, flash the F3d beta bios; works better than F3 or F4 (F4 final has a bug where you need 1.2 vtt for >4.4 ghz, and someone had F4 put over 1.8v into his CPU, and F4A/F3 final have some strange 1.78 vcore bug), then after the first successful post and saving settings, use alt f12 at the very beginning of the POST to copy the main BIOS to the backup BIOS. Then you shouldn't have any problems anymore.

Also, don't use turbo multipliers when setting a manual multiplier. Strange things can happen.

Do you have a link to the F3 Beta bios? I've flashed the F3 but I didn't see a beta on the website.

I would stick with F3d

That's what I'm running.

And I have no problems hitting 4.8GHz with HT on.

EDIT: attached is the f3d bios.

Well I've found something weird. The system won't boot with the graphic drivers installed. The card works fine to my knowledge (usually its a folder). So idk what the deal is.

EDIT: Okay so here's something for yall to wrap your heads around. I uninstalled the graphics drivers, bumped the vcore to 1.4 in the BIOS (reading 1.37 in CPU-z) and now prime95 is going all cores. Guess this mobo just really doesn't like my 470...

Not every 2600k can hit 4.8+MHz. I've read of some 2600k's maxing at 4.3GHz! Just luck of the draw. For what its worth, I'm more than satisfied with this chip's performance at 4.5GHz....
