Steam question

Thread Starter
Is it possible to move your steam games to another hard drive and have it so when you reformat, you don't have to run that long ass steam backup crap and just run your games?

Thanks lol

Yes, but does this allow me to reformat and then simply run my games from the other drive afterward?

Ah,

No I doubt it, you'll probably have to still run the backup/restore crap. I'm not sure if there are registry entries etc etc.

You don't need any software to achieve this.

Simply close Steam (if it's currently open) and copy/paste (or just move) the entire Steam installation directory (C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Steam by default).
Launch "steam.exe" in the new location... All registry data is re-created when needed.

As stated you can simply copy your folder.

Also, Steam backup utility doesn't take THAT long

Copy and pasting is your friend here.

After you move the folder, just delete the clientregistry.blob file before starting steam.
