i7 2600k OC - bad chip or I missed something?

Hi all,

I got i7 2600k on gigabyte P67 UD4. 2x2gb ddr3 1333mhz exeram EP3001A (oc one)
Cpu is watercooled with EK suprime HF, triple rad with 3 noctua p12's and a DC4 pump. idle temps are 29-31, max load up to 60-61.

Bassicly I want a stable 4.5ghz HT on oc.
I just cant get it. Every time linx with avx commands stops and I get BSOD 101 eror (more vcore)
My vcore is 1.375 already, witch is wayyy more then needed (other chips do 4.8ghz stable).

Vram is 1.64 runing 1600mhz cl9
max TDP is 140w
LLC on
turbo is off - so manual multi is 45x
Every other adv. cpu setings is off.
I tried incresing every other voltage by few steps - nothing..

What am I missing? Cant be that bad chip..

Mine wasn't stable at 4.8 until 1.39, voltages will vary from chip to chip. Try raising the vcore to 1.40, and see if it is stable at that point.

At those temps, you won't have any problems.

Hmm, I can try that, but I thought 1.35vcore is max for safe 24/7..
Yea, I know there isnt a two same chips, but again 1.375 for 4.5ghz and still not stable

Hmm, I think it is your memory. Are you running it at oem clocks and speed? 1333 @ 1600?

Kind of confused the first guy, he thinks your trying to hit 4.8 instead of 4.5.

No you are fine going past 1.35, I'm sure most SB OC's wil go past that...Most near the 5.0GHz range are >1.4.

To get to 5.0 I'm @ 1.41 with LLC on, but I'm not gonna run that 24/7, probably going to drop down to the 1.38/1.37 range and do 4.6-4.8GHz.

Ya I was putting in my own experience overclocking the chip, he was asking for a completely different question I know.

2600k with HT on is a little voltage hungrier than 2500k. Do you have a 2600k too?

My 2600k hit 4.5 @ 1.35v easily and like you said, your other chips easily hit it too. Your temps are awesome, so I am wondering about that memory.

I've got my 2600k at 1.512v and it runs fine the chips are suppose to be in a "fine" area up to 1.52 so only time will tell i guess. If i'm having to buy a new chip in a month then intel obviously fudged a little on the max vcore but i don't think thats going to happen. Intel is usually good on what they say.

You can always try lowering the BLK and increasing the clock as well.

Making progress! Did you try it at lower voltage or are you just setting it to 1.35v and seeing how high it will go?
