i5 750 idle temps

Thread Starter
Hey guys I have some concern about my temps.I have a corsair a70 cpu cooler and was able to gain a nice 3.8 oc but the temp diff on all 4 cores is weird.core 0 38c 2 34c 3 34c 4 31c what makes this even stranger is core 0 is not my dominate core it stays at0% load at idle but yet it is the hottest.I have all ready removed the cpu cooler to make sure i had even thermal paste on the die. Please help!!!

The temp differences are normal, this is due to the uneven top on the CPU. The way around this is you lap the processor.

What are your onload temps. Idle temps really don't matter in the slightest

What you're looking at is the integrated heat sink, not the die. The die is under there and is where the physical cores are, fyi.

That kind of idle with each core at a different temperature is nothing to be alarmed about. My cores are the same way and have been that way since day one. There's really nothing you can do about it, some cores will run hotter for no reason.

My idle is all over the place as well with a 31C average. What's more important is your load temps.

Thanks for the quick response and the little bit of schooling i needed as i am new to this. My load temps never go above 69c on prime 95 however intel burn test pushes my temps higher to about 78c on air cooler. So you guys say i have nothing to worry about and everything is okay then. Once again thanks for the fast response.

78'C under Intel Burn Test is fine. Your PC will barely see 70'C ever in normal everyday tasks plus gaming.

Sometimes the solder between the core and the IHS of the cpu doesn't make an even contact, which is why your cores are uneven.

My cores fluctuate up to 9-10'C between it's cores, perfectly normal.

I'd be a bit concerned if you were planning on folding. That stresses my machine a little more than prime95 does tbh.

But yeah, agreed you should be golden with that.

OP just so you know lapping the CPU will void your warranty with Intel.

Just sayin.
