Different work units. The Fermis are more efficient folders.

450 is newer, is fermi, and run a lot faster. 450s Fermi gets more PPD than g80 chips as well. Look at a WU for the G80 and Fermi:

Fermi 6805 - 1280 points
G80 (GPU2) - 6604 - 450 points

My 560 would tare through a 6604 in no time at all (probably get around 22k while doing it).

Maybe bump up your core/shaders a bit? Both my 275s run around 8500 PPD while I am using the PC and can jump to 9000 depending on the WU if I don't do anything with it. I have core = 666 and shader = 1512. Don't OC the memory, it doesn't help. You may even be able to get higher clocks. I have seen 275s hit 700 core before, mine are just picky.

Im pretty sure its the arch, but i could be wrong. My 480 gets 14k, while my 295 gets around 17. Both heavily overclocked.

I got ~9000 with my 275... I even saw as high as ~10,000 with a high overclock. So I would say thats kind of low.

My overclocked GTX 275 averages at like 9.5k PPD, unless I get a 101xx work unit then it drops down to 7-8k PPD.

thats weird... my gtx 260 gets 7-9K PPD... figured a 275 would get a little more than that?

My GTX 260 (216) ranges from 6k to 8k PPD. The 275 only has like 40 more cuda cores so it's not gonna do a ton more.
