Small update*

Results of flashing to 6970 Lightning BIOS = ... *drumroll* ... nothing... GPU wont POST ...qwk flick of the BIOS switch and we are back and working though.. no biggie


** I have not had a chance to move forward with the switching freq mod yet.. been too busy getting in submissions for this months OC comp .. putting together a X58 build right now too as another dedicated bench rig.

another small update*

Just Cause 2- Concrete Jungle Benchmark
1680x1050, AA-8x, AF-8x
All features set to 'high', Shadow Q-Med

1075mhz core @ 1.35v core, 1.17v VTT
1410mhz mem @ 1.63v
idle temp-40c
load temp- 44c



There was a significant improvement in vdroop on the VTT circuit after removing the stock fan/cooler from the PCB-> helping stability at high clocks I will be adding additional capacitors to the PCB to try to gain some more clock speed beyond the current limit of 1080mhz.

soon.. I have 6x other GPU's ahead of it ..prepped and mod'd, as soon as my new mobo arrives . *Have seen that most of these Cayman cores have CB issues below -0c ...only a handful are lucky enough to have 1x that scales under real cold.. *fingers crossed*

I still have temp headroom for more speed and voltage on water too...just got to get this power issue solved so I can run +1080core stable.

....I had to tweak some latency on this i5 CPU .. noticed that system latency is bottlenecking the GPU still.. I get 2FPS for every 1ns in latency I drop from NB/RAM. The GPU is also working harder now too..and hitting limits close to 20mhz lower than previously [I have not adjusted system voltages other than VTT/IMC for the CPU.. vcore and GPUv remain the same..as well as RAM and CPU speed].

*anyhow.. here are some updated scores with much better efficiency.

Agreed ..the mobo is not *240blck wall for booting..can push farther from windows.. Ram starts crapping out qwk though. I would really have to get some better IC's to push into the +245 range.. I was running 240bclk for daily use, but lowered to run higher QPI and cas7 The NB just wouldnt run 4.3ghz and cas7 mem..

*As for pushing PCI-E.. please keep in mind, I am pushing on a daily user right now..not a bench rig. These are full bloat OS and drivers..I have done all the basics like shutdown all other programs etc, and disable explorer for the bench runs of course... but I am positive there are much more improvements to make in a benching aspect. I plan on doing this soon... new mobo just arrived.
