I don't think two games benchmarks mean anything so here are three more that contradict the pervious two posted above.

Again if money isn't an issue two GTX 580's will outrun two AMD 6970's period.

If money is an issue than the AMD 6970's will give you the second best performance for best price combo.

Why can't some people understand for some of us money isn't the issue?

Metro 2033 is the hardest game on a GPU performance, that graphs speaks for itself albiet old review. The previous benches posted are also as old.

The GTX 580 actually came close to two AMD 6970's in these benchs, in Metro 2033 it beat two and where the GTX 580 SLI beat the AMD 6970 crossfire it was a huge margin.

I said for the price. I got two 6970s for 580 which is barely more than a single 580.

If you weren't a fool, you'd know the AMD cards weren't working in that Metro test and the fact that Metro is an Nvidia game. Also the other benchmarks you linked the FPS was already way above playable framrates, so it's irrelevant.

This is the 6950.

As you can see, the 580 price/performance ratio is horrible.

yOUR the fool, guess you have to lower yourself to name calling. If you think an AMD 6970 is better performance than a GTX 580 than your don't know anything because that was our argument. Beside where's your proof....? He showed two benchmarks that was irrelevant so I matched him. He cherry picked two games where the 6970 did slightly better and I thought he was trying to make some sort of claim that the 6970's were better than the GTX 580's. Then he clarified he meant lower priced, I gave him that. I also made my point is that some of us don't worry price per performance...discussion was over.

Beside who was even talking 6950? If your going to interject at least make a valid point with something to back it up.

Beside what does it tell you if the AMD cards weren't working? Who's fault is that, guess you want to make some point? Regardless who's games Metro 2033 is it still shows performance on one of the more graphic intensive games out there next to Crysis.

P.S. Guru3D sucks for benchmarks....ask Levesque. I think you know him. He told me that a few posts ago on another thread when I showed some benches from them.

Guess it's too hard for you to imagine where the 6970 would be, but don't worry.

When talking CF/SLI 580 is a bad card. 6970/6950 shouldn't even be near the performance of 580; yet they are. Crank up the res and the 6970 will pull ahead of the 580.

Ever hear of the GTX 580 3GB's? Your higher resolution will be trumped by them when those benches come out.

Good, good. Too bad 3GB versions are even more expensive, not looking too good for the 580 here : ) It costs more and it should perform better than it currently does.

A 3GB 580 costs $200 more than a 6970 2GB, so yeah rofl. For the price of 2x 3GB you could go trifire and smash the 580s. Good try though.

the 1.5 GB ram of the GTX 580 will definitely come in use at 1600p. at 1080p, i've already max out the 768 MB without AA. and 1600p is about 2x the size of 1080p.
yea u should just get the 580 with the accelero. it'll be quiet and cool. you'll be happy
don't go sli if ur scare of noise.

PS: don't waste ur cash on the 3 GB version. that much vram is only needed for 3 LCDs. with the light gaming that u do, the 580 will last u at least 4 years.

btw why are we even discussing radeons? clearly in the title and the original post, the person wants to compare GTX 460 768 MB SLI and GTX 580 1.5 GB. the radeons weren't even in the discussion.

again, the OP said that his primary priority is to reduce noise. do you amd people really thinks that ur crossfire solutions are quiet by any mean?
