Defective Router?

Hey, I have a Cisco linksys E2000 router and it's been giving me problems. When I hook up my Modem directly to my PC, I can easily get 20Mb/s download speed, but when I hook up my computer through my router (Wired, not wireless) I'm lucky if I get 2Mb/s. It's also notable that my upload speed and ping stay constant either way. This happened right when I bought it, and now, even after installing DD-WRT firmware (which I actually think made it worse ) it's still bad, if not worse. This isn't normal, right? any way to fix this?

Thanks for any responses in advance.

Try cloning your MAC address to the router, and see if that helps.

I just tried doing that, and my internet stopped working

EDIT: I had an issue where my internet closed while i was doing something with the router, and ended up having to reset my router, they speed went up to 20Mb/s but, it almost always does that, then goes back down slowly.
