would like opinions on this which is proly junk

hi all, currently I have an old P4 HP thing, which I have have had a good number of years, so I figured, it doesn't really matter what I get too much, as what ever I get now, will surely be an improvement, lol...
the case will be NZXT Beta Evo, as I want something that I can add to at later date, but for now, most the components will undoubtedly be low cost, and something I can upgrade as I go along in time.
so as mentioned, case will be NZXT Beta Evo.

motherboard: Asus M4A78LT-M Socket AM3 AMD SB710 DVI VGA HDMI 8 Channel Audio mATX Motherboard, which also has Graphics ControllerATI Radeon 3000 Shared Video Memory (UMA)with Video Memory Supported1 GB.

CPU: AMD Athlon II X3 450 3.2GHz Socket AM3 95w 1.5MB L2 Cache Retail Boxed Processor.

Memory: Kingston DDR3 2GB 1333MHz i5 Memory Module CL9 1.5V.

PSU: Powercool 450W 80plus Certified efficiency PSU - 2x SATA 1x PCI-E.

things like HD and OS etc, I already have, but graphics card wise, for now, I will use the onboard one, I know it won't be up to much as such, but I don't game much either, so am not too bothered, though a cheap/low cost recommendation would be welcome along with thoughts on the above build; money is tight, but would really like something a little more up to date than this old dinosaur I have at present, so your thoughts/ideas would be most welcome... oh! and also if the bits and bobs will all work together too, lol.
many thanks to all.
Mog.

Looks decent to me. I personally won't use asus anymore due to their hit or miss quality over the years, they could have gotten better lately but I wouldn't know, I only use gigabyte now.

Oh..and ditch the powercool power supply. Power supply is the last thing you want to skimp on. Seasonic, Corsair, Antec, PC Power & Cooling are all amazing. Probably a few others too which others will post. Most PSU's are built off of Seasonic OEM's anyway.

The rig you're putting up is perfect. Consider Gygabite over Asus if you plan on heavy OCing - Asus's VRMs frictuate the Vcore.
It'd be long before the 450 noticably bottlenecks anything, and Kingston's 1333 easily goes down to CL7.
Whenever you decide on getting a discrete GPU, look for a better PSU first - one that'd give you headroom.

That's about all the advice I can give you, I have, as you can see, very similar rig and it's as good as they get

Never even heard of arctic. I would stick to corsair if you're on somewhat of a budget. I've used quite a few of their power supplies for systems on a somewhat budget. They run amazing and quiet. A lot of OCN can vouch for them as well. I personally always use PC Power & Cooling in my rigs cause of the warranty and beefy hardware they use (dunno if they still use Seasonic OEM), but they come at a price

Depending on what you're paying for that motherboard. The 760 chipset is old.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-458-_-Product

That seems to be within the same price.

This, though if you find a 760/780 board for ~50 pair that with a discrete gpu for much better graphics performance.

The akimbo 9800gt for 50 at tigerdirect no MIR is a great budget solution for discrete dx10 graphics. Good budget gaming card.

Might I make a few suggestions.

The NZXT beta evo is $55 with a $10 mir and $10 s&H, so basically $55 (if you get your rebate). This Coolermaster 430 looks very similar and is $50 shipped (no rebates)

Coolermaster 430 $50
Foxconn A88GM Deluxe AM3 $65 (HD4250 is much better that HD3000 onboard.)
Athlon X3 450 $80
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 $40 with promo code: EMCKEKG29, ends 5/9 (more headroom should you choose to do a bit more OCing, and its cheaper than the Kingston 1333 to boot)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-026-_-Product $30 after $20 mir (There are 2 versions of this psu available. Since they are the same price after rebate, I selected the newer, more expensive 80plus unit)

Total is $265 after $20 mir.
It's so little!

9800GT is not discrete That card is still a champion in my eyes. I've got an 8800Gt that's still running strong and still plays a lot of stuff on large resolution <3 That really was one of those awesome cards that just goes on forever. What was that one ATI did YEARS ago. the 9800 Pro?
