Attn silent enthusiasts.. experience needed

Thread Starter
Built a new rig this week and am finding my 460 768mb severely lacking for 2560x1600 gaming. I'm looking to buy a third monitor which is why i came here to the AMD camp .
I have modded my MSI cyclone to spin at 25% on idle which to my ears doesn't add any perceived noise over my 4 fans @ 500rpm in my Fortress FT-02B.
My question is to those with sensitive ears what model 6950/6970 or other should I get that will be equivalent at least on idle in noise to my 460 and give me a good 2500x1600 experience.
The Asus directcuii looks very interesting anyone have any experience?
I have a corsair ax850 so power isn't an issue.

http://www.hardwareheaven.com/reviews/1113/pg15/asus-hd-6970-directcu-2-graphics-card-review-overclocking-power-noise-temps.html The video on this page shows the DirectCu II at a worst-case scenario. Hope this helps.

Also, I've heard that 90 degree Silverstone cases don't work that well unless the heatpipes are on the opposite side (near the pci connector), so the MSI one seems to be your best bet.

That's a good point about heatpipes but i think i remember a comparison on spcr showing the difference only being a few degrees.
I'm also considering the accelero extreme

I've only read a couple of reviews on spcr that said it was great.
That lightning doesn't look particularly quiet by design i'm a bit suspect of that review.
