GA-P67A-UD3-B3 & i5 2500K oc QUESTIONS.

Thread Starter
Ok so i just finished building my latest addition to the gaming room and my newest main machine.

NCIX has a great sale so this was very hard to pass up.
anyways i am new to the whole sandybridge architecture and was wondering if any other owners of the GA-P67A-UD3-B3 can gimme some light on how to OC this 2500k. i'm seeing a lot of new stuff in the bios that is nothing close to my other x58 based i7.

i got a coolit eco water block on the cpu as well. came with the mobo for free as part of a door crasher. so i really wanna try to push this thing.

my system specs are located in my rig. any help and advice is appreciated.

Grats on the new set up!!, hmm.. well iv been using that board for a couple months now, and overall I'm happy with it. Though the only problem is when enable LLC.. You don't have lvl 1/2/3 option's is just enable or disable.. With that being said, the highest i can overclock on my chip is 4.8ghz... Because i have to set my vcore so high just to cover up the horrible vdroop that happens because this is a low end p67 board.. So if you are shooting for 5.0ghz+.. you will want a board that supports LLC lvl1/2/3.. and higher VRM. This board will limit your overclock inless you want to run ur vcore over 1.5v just to let it drop to 1.430vcore... Best of luck to you!

can't you just turn off LLC? or will this play a big factor in OC'ing?
i'm curious as to what settings you have in your bios.
this is my first attempt as sandy OC'ing so a lot of it was guessing on what to turn on and off.
good thing its unlocked cpu made it real easy.
my mobo was being picky with my ram.. i had to manually put in timings too. anyways is there like any beta bios's avail that we can try?

LLC enabled helps vdroop for higher overclocks on this board 4.5ghz+... I had to set my correct ram speed also with this board. The bios I'm using is F3. can download it from gigabyte site, or just go to your gigabyte folder in windows and look for @bios and use that to update to F3.. I keep all CiE/C3/CPU Thermal/CPU EIST on = Power savers for CPU .. Turning on or off has yet to effect any of my overclocks.. I like the fact that it will downclock to 1.6ghz idle and 0.980vcore idle and just goes to my correct OC under load.. Anyway's.. for my 4.7ghz overclock, i had LLC enable, vcore set to normal, and i used d(vid) offset to set my vcore higher, witch i had to use +0.050 to make my load vcore 1.390, after that i put cpu pll on 1.720v.. saved and left bios. All working perfectly. Also, just so it will show 100mhz bclk in cpu-z and bios.. I changed my bclk from 1000, to 1002 just because i wanted it to show correctly.

ok so i pushed it to 4.4 ghz.
temps are still good man.

39 41 45 37

i am thinking of reseating and applying better heatsink then that preapplied stuff that was on the sink already. the temps are pretty wide between each core. does anyone know how far until like the danger zone this cpu can be pushed?

thoughs temps are are nice for that OC.. is that while running prime95 blend? .. Id stay under 1.470vcore and keep temps under 85c when on prime95 blend.. itsleast thats how i roll. tjmax is 98c so i shoot for stayin 15c or so away from that when on prime95.. because gaming ill never see thoughs temps
