Cheap netbook for parents [UK]

My parents have come to me for help about buying a netbook. The main reason they want it is they are fed up of going on holiday and having to pay quite a but for 5-10 mins of internet time which they use to keep in touch. However they also want it for use while travelling/in airports and for usage at home.

I can only see it getting light use, mostly internet browsing and basic office programs as well as maybe watching films on. Being able to run kids games would be handy but not really a deal breaker as that wouldn't be used much.

Due to the low usage its not something they want to spend a lot on. Initially they were looking at 2nd hand and refurbished netbooks but they have been going for £130ish when new ones start to come in under £200.

This one looks very good due to the price or is it just that im missing something?

If anyone could offer some advice on that one or suggestions in general as well as what I should be looking for I would appreciate it. Never owned a laptop myself so while im certainly better than they would be at finding a decent one im far from an expert.

Thanks for any help.

That particular netbook probably is the very lowest end you could expect in terms of HDD space and battery life (only a 3cell), but for that price there's no competition really. I kept searching for something better, and to find it I had to go over 200£, which is not worth it. It seems that this netbook is ok only after reinstalling Windows as by default it comes with a lot of crapware - basically the first thing the ones that gave good reviews did was to format/reinstall Win properly. With a clean Windows you should get around 7-8 hours of usage.

the mrs got one of those netbooks and for its tasks you couldnt really get cheaper without it being second hand,i have been qwatching on the quiet and it always seems to return 4 hours +/- on each charge.

I personally can't stand lappys/netbooks due to clumsy fingers and i have a dislike for the mouse pad things they have, but it seems ok and for £150 you cant really go wrong.

As Drago said, reinstalling windows is a good idea, but she won't let me thinker with it,so i wait patiently till its fecked
mcsonfig/system manager of course works wonders too!

Ok thanks for the advice.

I guess it might be a case of seeing if anything goes cheap second hand or refurbished, if not this should suit their very low usage requirements. They want it for their next holiday since its a long flight but that gives some time to make sure what they actually get works out decent for them.

Thanks again for the help.
