is it dying?

Thread Starter
I have a Apevia Iceberg thats 680 watts and about 7 months old and I have been experiancing alot of crashes and bsod and my overclock for both my gpu and my cpu have gone way down from what I could get stable just a couple of weeks ago. I was wondering if the psu is starting to die or lose it's potental, as one time when I overclocked my gpu and cpu hard and then run a benchmark I started getting a smell (not strong) and then the app crashed and ever since then my overclock has been going down? This is in the sig rig and the overclock for the gpu was around 825 core with 1900 mem 1.0 volt. Any thoughts or suggestions welcome.... and no when I built this comp I didnt know much about power supplys or else I wouldnt have gotten this one. lol

It's possible, however are you sure your overclocks are stable?

I had them stable for awhile, heck I could even get 4.0 with a single bump to 1.36 in the vcore and it would be 12 hour P95 stable and now I cant even get it stable at 1.4vcore at 3.7ghz so I was thinking it was the PSU as now it also makes a "groaning" sound and the case fans kinda bog down when the load is put on it

Yeah, it's most likely the PSU then. Anyway you can check the amount of voltage it's putting out now? I know if I check in the EFI bios it shows me my voltage on the main page. Not sure where it'll show in a regular BIOS, maybe PC Health Status?

Test another power supply, if you have one.

Well I run a kombuster test while watching the volts and drops to 11.57 on the 12 volts and the 5 volt hit right at the 5 volt mark and this was with a mild overclock on the gpu and when I upped the gpu volt to .975 thats when the volts dropped down and the mouse was real unresponsive. so yea PSU is going bye bye. Any ideas as to wether or not the volts are within spec or to low?
