Budget RAM Waterblocks? Any good ones out there? - Page 2

I just traded my Corsair XMS3's for Kingston 1600 HyperX's and my NZXT Sentry2 shows them running 65c after 10 minutes on P95blend or 45c after 10 minutes of wow or wcg. The thermocouple is just taped to the outside of the first ram stick, so I know the actual chips are running -way- more hot than 45-65c.

The new EK Ram block is way less restrictive than the individual stick cooling solutions. But the HyperX's are not milled flat on top like the Corsair Dominators as mentioned previously. So there are still 2 ways to use the ek ram block with the HyperX sticks. Lap the tops of the HyperX heat spreaders perfectly flat, which would take a lot of work, OR use the handy EK Thermal Pads which you can get in large sizes that can be cut down.

Either way would need an alternative way mount the block since it is designed to be mounted directly to the top of Dominator Sticks.

After I get my koolance cpu block sold off and have the EK ram block, I am planning on using the clips from a leftover OCZ Xtasy ram cooler since they hold onto the ram slot locking levers.

Has any else tried this?

yea i really wanna use the ek block aswell ! I have just received 2x gtx 560 full cover blocks together with a maximus 4 extreme full mobo block .. Ek makes such beautiful and good quality blocks, and i MUST have one for my ram .. But any idea for a decent mounting method to make it fit the 1600mhz hyperx blue?

If i had more money, i would have just bough dominators

I have the grey, but the heat-spreader looks to be the same design.

So as soon as I find out if the OCZ Xtazy style clips will work I will post up pics and temps.

I am putting this on hold for now. I haven't sold my other cpu block yet, and something is going on with my gpu cooler.

I have been extremely sick for the past 4-5 days and got back to my pc this morning to find that my gpu is running 10c hotter at no load than it was last week. I need to take apart my loop and clean it anyway, so I will take apart the ek block as well to see if it is clogged or flaking like some of the other nickel plated blocks.

Speaking of which I noticed that the ek ram cooler is also nickel plated. Anyone had any issues with that yet?
