the 1.5 gb is more then enough, but why not get the 3gb if you have the money.

as for ati drivers the 5970 i had was my last ati card for some time. it was the worst driver experence i have had for a LONG time. even worse then creative drivers.

Some of us love Nvidia as much as you obviously love AMD....can't you get that through your head? The 'Nvidia' card subject area is full of people who don't like AMD regardless if price is lower yada yada. We want raw power without driver issues, video editing on CUDA, real 3D without third party vendors etc....

This isn't neutral terriroty like the 'General Graphics' card area.

Seems like your set out on every thread here to peddle your 'fanboyism' on others really. Go revisit your Red Tide club for people who will agree with you. You might feel loved with consent, as opposed to trolling here being opposed.

No offense to AMD, they are good cards, just not everyones preference regardless of your opinions.

Most people who prefer NVIDIA have went down the ATI and have had nothing but issues, myself included. It's not fanboyism, NVIDIA simply has better drivers. I've had 3 ATI builds and all of them had driver issues.. far more than all my NVIDIA builds. Everytime I go back to ATI I think "well its been a few years, maybe they've improved" and everytime I regret it. I'm done with them now, my GTX 580 is by far the most stable and reliable GPU i've owned to date, and is a huge relief over my last ATI build.

NVIDIA also tends to have much better minimum frame rates, while ATI has higher maximum frame rates. Check a reliable review site that actually includes minimum frame rates and compare ATI's same generation to NVIDIA's same generation over the last 2-3 years and you will see what I mean. Ask yourself: 50-80FPS or 20-120FPS? It's not a hard choice.
This +2 and every other thread Stefy trolls on in the NVIDIA section. Murlocke if I could give you a +1 rep I would.

Plus Vram is no longer an issue with the GTX 580 3Gb version for us and YES we will pay more for it because we prefer it. It will rape an AMD 6970 2Gb version on higher resolution hands down.

The man has a point. I mean if you're willing to spend over 1k on triple GPUs, you're obviously not looking for a "bargain" setup to begin with.

Why invest that much just to have the 2nd fastest setup? The 3GB 580 is expensive, but that's because it is the most powerful single GPU on the planet. When have you ever seen a top of the line piece of hardware that doesn't come with a price premium?

Not all purchases come down to price/performance.

Thread cleaned.

Please, look at the section you are in. As Murloke rightly;

Don't start flame wars, especially for no reason other than brand dedication, don't do it, don't reply to it, don't even mention it.

If you already have 1.5 GB card(s), I don't think it worthwhile to upgrade to 3GB versions for 2560 x 1600. I haven't.

But if you just now upgrading to the 580s, and haven't purchased yet, 3GB versions would seem to make more sense.
