2600K stepping Questions? D1 or D2?

Hey Guys,

Just curious what you guys know about the stepping of each of these. I have searched all over the net and there seems to be controversy over whether you need a D1 vs. D2 to really max out the benefits of OC? True or not?

I can't really find alot of info on this and I don't want to spend $300 on a D2 when I know i can get a D1 ES(engineer sample) for cheaper and it OC better.

Any thoughts that you guys might have i would appreciate it.

Thanks

To be honest I've heard that D2 chips overclock better. Then again I could be wrong.

Es don't come with a warranty I believe so if you fry the chip or it degrades, you get owned.

Sandy Bridge batchs get better and better.

D2's allow for PLL Overvoltage which seems to allow higher OC's.

Lethalrise--is that what you currently have--the D2?

Yep. Retail 2600K's are D2.

D1's are just as hit and miss as D2's. I don't know of any bad d1's, but it's not like there's a survey of them. But you don't have Internal PLL overvoltage on them, so if X49 is the highest you can go, that's it.

Thanks Guys !! makes my buying choice a little easier now. I will stick with the D2 and hope that the PLL will help me out a little --also going to get the Gigabyte P67A UD-7 board to go along with it or a UD-4
