i7 930 not working on second R3E

Thread Starter
So I have been running this i7 930 for the past 6 months in my motherboard. I bought both the R3e and the 930 at the same time. I also installed watercooling in my original build so it's always been underwater.

I have the danger den mobo block that I installed later but I've been using the rasa CPU block on my 930, and I've run it at 1.27V (or less) 24/7 at 4.2 GHz.

Two weeks ago, I went to turn on the PC when I got home from work and it wouldn't post. Checked everything I could and assumed it to be the mobo, so I paid for a cross-ship from Asus. Installed waterblock on mobo and rasa block on CPU and it worked fine. Redid my overclock and everything was running smoothly till today.

Now it will not post again. The R3E has the QLED system on the side that lights up what the mobo cannot boot past and it stays stuck on CPU. I swapped BIOS over to the 2nd one in an attempt to revert to factory clocks, but it still will not post. I have the speaker plugged in and it doesn't beep at all, though it was yesterday when booting.

I tried to pull the board apart and reapplied thermal paste and reseated the rasa block, but my temps have usually hovered at 33C at idle and up to 50C at load. Now when I turn the PC on everything lights up and stays lit but nothing will post.

Anyone have any ideas? I ran my ram at 1.6V and from googling apparently that will void my CPU warranty? I'm rather upset as I just RMA'ed my board and put it all back together after flushing the system several times, and now my rig is down again.

I'm flying blind here it seems like xD and I am wondering what my next step should be so I though I would post here in hopes for advice from someone wiser than myself.

Thanks in advance!

ram should actually be ran at 1.65volts and it "VOIDS" your warranty but there is no way for intel to know you ran it at those voltages...possible your chip was fried somehow.!
about the ram 1.5v is wat intel recomends u keep it at
1.65 is wat you should u go maximum on or could lead too permanit damage and void warrenty
(1366,1155,1156) cpus
so your warrenty is not voided
on your cpu

So do you both believe the CPU is the problem? I'm hoping against all odds this is a problem that there is a fix for that doesn't automatically require an RMA through Intel. Do they even cross-ship?

I'm hoping perhaps someone has experienced a similar problem here on OCN and may be able to point me as to whether I should be testing other components or....

Bah I also seem to have tossed out my stock intel heatsink (or hidden it so well it is the same thing). Anyone have recent experience RMA'ing a CPU to intel? Will they let me slide by without the heatsink?

Ive RMAed to intel before without needing the stock heatsink. I would just hang up if you find someone who asks for it till you find someone who does. As for crossshipping I have no idea. I wasn't given that option when I had to RMA.

Sorry about themobo and CPU. Sucks

Update and bump:

I was able to get Intel to cross-ship me a new CPU. However it has done me no good. I placed it into the CPU socket and no joy. The QLED on the R3E still lights up red on the CPU and stays lit and nothing boots. What seems weird to me is that the system doesn't reset. It just stays frozen at that point.

I'm officially at a loss. What are the odds of it being the mobo? Could it be bad yet again? It doesn't seem to he the PSU and that only leaves CPU and board right?

If anyone has had a problem like this before I could really use some help. Thanks
